3D X-Rays (CBCT)

Armbrecht & Wierenga uses CBCT 3D X-rays in Grand Rapids & Grandville, MI for precise, low-radiation imaging that improves every treatment plan.

Overview

Taking dental X-rays has never been easier — or more informative. At Armbrecht & Wierenga Orthodontics, we use a state-of-the-art cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) system to capture detailed 3D images of your teeth, jaw, and surrounding structures. This technology gives our orthodontists a complete, 360-degree picture that 2D X-rays simply can't provide.

How It Works

The process couldn't be simpler for patients. You'll stand still while a portion of the machine rotates gently around your head, capturing data using a cone-shaped X-ray beam. That data is then transformed into a high-resolution 3D image of your teeth and your full maxillofacial region — your mouth, jaw, and neck. The whole process takes just a few minutes.

    Less distortion and retakes

Superior image quality compared to traditional 2D X-rays

  • 06

    Better treatment planning

The added detail leads to more accurate diagnoses and more effective treatment plans

Are 3D X-Rays Safe?

Yes — 3D X-rays are very safe. The amount of radiation involved is extremely small, actually lower than traditional dental X-rays in many respects. And the clinical value of that information is significant: more accurate images translate directly into better treatment decisions and better outcomes for our patients.

Our CBCT systems are available at both our Kentwood and Grandville locations, and they support treatment planning for metal braces, ceramic braces, and Invisalign® alike. If you have questions about what to expect during your imaging appointment, our friendly team is always happy to walk you through it.

Every smile we create is one that works as beautifully as it looks — designed for function, health, and confidence that lasts a lifetime.
